Promoting intermodal logistics operations in Turku

Posten Norden opens logistics centre in the Port of Turku

29.01.2010

Posten Norden has opened one of the most modern logistics centres in the Nordic countries at the Port of Turku. All Finnish packet services will be concentrated at the new centre away from the Helsinki metropolitan area, and the company’s goal is to make Turku a key hub in its Nordic network.

Posten Norden’s Turku logistics centre offers a wide variety of logistics solutions, such as transports, warehousing, product pick-ups, repackaging, and other transport rearrangements. The logistics centre is also able to handle special products, such as foods and product shipments that require customs clearance.

Almost 20 million euro has been invested in Posten Norden’s new logistics centre, which employs 80 people. The 25,000 square metre floor area has as many as 42 loading gates.

Posten Norden was born out of the merger of the Swedish and Danish postal operations. In Finland, the company operates as Posten Logistik SCM Oy which was in turn created when DPD Finland Oy, HIT, Suomen Logistiikkatalo and Sal-Trans merged at the beginning of 2009.
