LogiCity attracts interest from St. Petersburg

The City of Turku and Pilot Turku Ltd invited logistics operators, investors and journalists to a well-attended seminar in March at Finland’s Consulate General St. Petersburg to discuss the opportunities offered by the Turku region and LogiCity.
Tero Hirvilammi, Deputy Mayor of Turku, and Ari Niemelä, Managing Director of Pilot Turku Ltd, underlined the Turku region’s outstanding location as a logistics node between East and West.
Russian logistics operators showed interest both in goods transports between Russia and Finland, and in traffic between Russia and the whole of Scandinavia. The Turku region and LogiCity have an important role to play for example as a distribution hub.
Further negotiations are to proceed with several Russian stakeholders concerning the development of co-operation with Pilot Turku Ltd and utilisation of the potential created by LogiCity in logistics management and processing.
