Schenker plans expansion at the Port of Turku

18.01.2008Printable version

Schenker Cargo’s massive distribution warehouse at the Port of Turku opened its doors in spring 2007. Business was brisk from the outset, utilising the current floor space of 22,000 square metres to the full, and the plan is to add another 10,000 square metres.

The facility’s unique double track system that allows trains with a different gauge to move from the port to the warehouse without bogie changing has proved highly attractive to customers.

Schenker Cargo Oy purchased a ten-year lease from the Port of Turku which has ensured readiness for expansion so that Schenker’s new building would be operational in autumn 2009.
