Kaukokiito to relocate in LogiCity24.05.2007 A major logistics company – Suomen Kaukokiito Oy – is relocating in LogiCity. Kaukokiito has reserved a 10 hectare plot where it plans to build a total of 30,000 square metres of facilities for logistics operations. The first stage of construction comprises a temperature-adjusted transport terminal with a floor area of 10,000 square metres.Kaukokiito explains its significant investment decision in stating that all modes of transport meet in LogiCity and it offers excellent connections, yet the area circumvents the city-centre congestion. Other decisive factors for choosing LogiCity include the fact that the plot offers sufficient space and opportunity for expansion, and the area has clearly been planned with the future in mind where other potential needs are concerned.
“The new terminal will more than double our present capacity and we can offer full-time employment to around 100 logistics experts,” says Jarmo Lilja, Regional Director of Suomen Kaukokiito Oy.
Pilot Turku Ltd has also been negotiating with other large companies on relocation in LogiCity, and more decisions are expected within a few months.
